Barbara Marie Shields, 84, Massena

Mrs. Barbara Marie Shields, 84, of Massena, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011 after a long illness.

Barbara was predeceased by 6 of her 10 children and by her husband of 56 years, William B. Shields.

She is survived by 4 sons, 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Originally from Boston, and then Newburgh, N.Y., Barbara was a longtime resident of Massena.

She was very active in the craft community and with Project Head Start, the Massena Public Library and the Robert Moses Nature Center.

A memorial gathering is being planned. Details will be announced later.
