Funeral services for Kathleen T. Sheldon, age 91 of Ogdensburg and formerly of Lisbon will be held on Wednesday (Sept 7, 2011) at 11:00 a.m. at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Smith officiating. Burial will follow the service at White Church Cemetery in Lisbon.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Sheldon died Saturday (Sept 3, 2011) at the United Helpers Nursing Home.
Surviving are seven sons and their wives, Lance and Linda of Sumter, SC, Royal and Gail of Norwood, Harold and Kathy of Ogdensburg, Fay and Cindy of West Potsdam, Mark and Marsha of Newark, Perry and Patti of Hyde Park, and Gary and Kerry of Durham, CT; three daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Sharon) McCormick of Ogdensburg, Ida Van Brocklin of Alex Bay and Mrs. Michael (Faith) Cyr of Milford, NH; twenty six grandchildren, thirty nine great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Franklyn; three sisters, Lucy Bates, Mary Lesperance, and Amy Blanchard; and a brother, Clarence Taber.
Mrs. Sheldon was born on November 28, 1919 in the Town of Madrid, a daughter of the late Foster and Sarah (McKnight) Taber. She graduated from Madrid High School in 1939 and married Franklyn B. Sheldon on May 6, 1942 at the home of her parents. During her working years, she was employed at the WT Grant Company as a clerk, the A. Barton Hepburn Hospital as a nurse’s aide and operated the Snack Spot Restaurant in Lisbon in the 1960’s.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening spending time with her family. She was a 75 year member and chaplain of the Kendrew Grange, a longtime member of the Fulton Chapter OES # 515 in Waddington and a member of the Lisbon 49er’s Senior Citizens Club and the First Congregational Church in Lisbon.
