William George Snyder, 74, formerly of Massena, passed away at home with Hospice in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Aug. 25, 2011.
He was born in Helena to the late Edward and Myrtle Deon Snyder on Oct. 7, 1936.
He worked in production and as a die-maker for GM in Massena for 31 and 1/2 yrs. He retired in March 1990.
He was married on Sept. 18, 1954 to Aletha Smith Snyder who passed away on March 19, 1978.
His surviving spouse, Merilyn Gilmore Smith Snyder and he were married on Aug. 9, 1980.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Tammy Sue Snyder, 17, who died on July 27, l983 and a brother, Lawrence of East Syracuse.
He is survived by three sisters, Kathleen Forrest and Lois Guay of Massena and Edna Hunter of East Syracuse; a brother, Leon of Pulaski; sons, Ricky [Eleanor] Snyder of Raleigh, N.C., Randy [Tammy] Snyder of Hampstead, N.C., and Timothy Snyder of Wilmington, N.C.; step-son, Anthony [Christine] Smith; stepdaughters, Sandra [Dominic] Hayes, Lisa [Charles] Soderstrom and Carolyn [James] Compeau; 25 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
