Rose Mary Eldridge, 87, Massena

Mrs. Rose Mary Eldridge, 87, 89 Grove Street, passed away early Monday morning, August 22, 2011, at the St. Regis Nursing Home where she had been a patient since December 2008.

Rose Mary was born December 9, 1923, in Watertown to the late Peter and Irene Downey Greco. She graduated from Watertown High School. Rose Mary was a very proud veteran, serving in the US Army during WWII. She married Raymond Eldridge on July 25, 1951. He predeceased her on July 25, 1974.

Rose Mary was a Nurse’s Aide in various hospitals in Virginia. She then moved to Massena and waitressed at the St. Lawrence Restaurant for many years. She was a member of the American Legion Post #79 and St. Joseph’s church both in Massena. She enjoyed playing Bingo, doing crafts and reading her books.

She is survived by two sons, William and Patricia Eldridge of Massena, and Rick Eldridge of Stuart, Florida; four grandchildren, Richard T., Kathryn, Shelby Lynn, and Sarah F.; two great grandchildren, Jennifer and B.J. Jr.; her brother, Ralph Greco of Lakeview, Florida; and her dear friend and caregiver, Lisa Russell of Massena.

She was predeceased by her son, B.J. Eldridge in 1988; and her sister, Eva Ludeman on February 6, 2002.

Friends may call the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena on Saturday August 27, 2011 from 9-11 a.m. where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., with Rev. Jack Downs, officiating. Burial will follow the services at Calvary Cemetery, Massena, with full military honors.
