Mr. Windell R. “Dudly” King Sr. “Ka Re Wah Te Ron”, 51, 191 Racquette Point Road, passed away unexpectedly Saturday August 20, 2011, at Massena Memorial Hospital after a boating accident that happened in the afternoon.
Dudly was born February 9, 1960, the son of the late Joseph P. King and Gladys Thompson. He attended Salmon River schools. He graduated from Massena Central School in 1978. Windell was a self-employed entrepreneur and also an iron worker. He belonged to the Kanienkehaka Kanonsesneh Longhouse in Hogansburg. He was married to Donna Stehlin which ended in a divorce. Dudly enjoyed playing softball, golf, basketball and hockey in his earlier years. He was a dedicated animal lover and enjoyed spending time with his dogs Eyore and O2.
Windell is survived by his five children, Tony Coch of Virginia, Windell Jr. King, Douglas King, Crystal King, and Jennifer King, all of Akwesasne; seven grandchildren, Keesha King, Kayla King, Kayianna King, Douglas Jr. King, Kandice King, Kaydance King, and Lennon Koch; his sister, Hope Wheelock of Racquette Point, Hogansburg; two half sisters, Elvera Sargent of Fort Convington and Alvena Delormier of Snye, Quebec; many nieces and nephews; and two stepsons, Dayton and Tony.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former, Dorothy A. Wheeler on September 13, 2000; his father, Joseph King on December 17, 1973; his mother, Gladys Thompson Gray on July 31, 2009; and a brother, Peter King on July 4, 1977.
Friends may call at the Kanienkehaha Kanonsesneh Longhouse in Hogansburg beginning at 4:00p.m., Tuesday, until the time of the service. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 25, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at the Longhouse. At his request, cremation will follow the funeral service.
