Kent William Roberts, 55, Massena

Mr. Kent William Roberts, 55, 45 Douglas Road, passed away late Thursday evening, August 18, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a very long illness.

Kent was born September 7, 1955 in Massena, the son of William J. and Theresa Batraw Roberts. He graduated from Massena High School in 1973. After graduation he took college courses at SUNY Canton. He married Joy Leslie LaValley on September 20, 1975 in Massena, NY. Kent served in the US Air Force from January 7, 1976 until July 15, 1979 when he received an honorable discharge.

Kent was the modernization coordinator for the Massena Housing Authority until his disability retirement in 2005. He was a former member of the VFW and an avid Ham radio operator. Kent enjoyed singing Karoake at local establishments and especially in his basement. He also enjoyed card playing, fishing researching genealogy and spending time with his family.

Kent is survived by his loving wife, Joy; a daughter, Jackie Davis of Massena; a son, Mark William Roberts and his companion Stacey Kocsis of Massena; his mother, Theresa Roberts; four grandchildren, Alisha, Madison, Destiny and Cora Elizabeth; two brothers Richard Roberts of Garrettsville, Ohio and Mark J. and Debbie Roberts of Niskayuna, NY; two nieces, Katherine and Grace.

He was predeceased by his father on January 18, 2009.

Friends may call Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 8:30 p.m., where there will be a funeral service at 8:30PM with Sister Maureen Sweeney, officiating.
