Mr. John F. Bartlett, age 78, of Potsdam, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at his home while under the care of his family and the Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Thursday, July 28, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.
Funeral service will be held at the Garner Funeral Service at 11 a.m. with Robert Wickwire, Layspeaker performing the service with music by Jane Davy. Burial will follow the service at the Southville Cemetery. John is survived by his wife, Kay Bartlett of Potsdam; four sons, Michael (Cathy) Bartlett of Woodstock, CT, Patrick (Nancy) Bartlett of Woodstock, VT, Richard (Vicky) Bartlett of Colton and Stephen (Sherri) Bartlett of Norwood; and five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a sister, Polly Minnick; and his brothers, Arthur and Henry Bartlett.
John was born on June 14, 1933 in Theresa, to the late Floyd A. and Mary E. Bartlett. He attended Theresa Schools. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On June 12, 1955 he was married to Kay E. Reynolds at the Theresa Methodist Church. John worked on a farm for a few years. He then went to work for Borden’s Milk Company until 1958. He then worked for Crowley’s for a year before going to work for Wonder Bread where he drove truck, managed and did all sorts of things in over 32 years of service. He retired in 1991.
John was involved in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts for many years. He greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing as well as spending time with family and friends. Condolences can be sent online @www.garnerfh.com.
