MASSENA -- Muriel D. Reynolds age 94 passed away peacefully on Friday May 5, 2023, at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Phillips Memorial Home, 64 Andrews Stree, Massena, NY.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 139 Main Street, Massena, NY from 11:00 am -12:00 pm.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm with Mother Sonya Boyce officiating.
Burial will take place at the Ogdensburg Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Muriel was born in Brockville, Ontario on June 19, 1928, the daughter of Casey and Mary Ellen (Utman) Lemery.
She married Frank Reynolds on May 24, 1949, at the Methodist Church in Ogdensburg.
Muriel worked for the Army Map Service (later known as the Defense Mapping Agency Hydrographic/Topographic Center) in Washington, DC from 1961 to 1980 and during the building of the Seaway, for Morrison Knudsen, Kiewit-Johnson-Johnson and Waddington Constructors as a Secretary, Invoice Clerk and Payroll Clerk-returning to Washington, DC in 1961.
She and her husband moved to Massena in 1984.
She was a communicant of St. John’s Episcopal Church where she served as Vestry Clerk for 35 years.
She was the Head teller at the church and was the Secretary of St. Monica’s Guild.
She was a member of the Massena Hospital Auxiliary, the Massena Garden Club and Massena Meals on Wheels.
She enjoyed being with family and friends, gardening, her flowers and yard work.
She never left a crossword puzzle or a Manhattan unfinished.
Muriel was predeceased by her husband, Frank of 58 years on November 27, 2007.
She is survived by a brother, Eugene Lemery and his wife, Verna of Cardinal; Ontario, and several nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by 4 sisters, Doria Beecroft; June Douglas; Marjory Lemery, and Doreen Hutchcroft of Cardinal, Ontario, and a brother, Douglas Lemery of Kingston, Ontario.
