Man accused of fleeing police at high rate of speed twice on motorcycle in Potsdam, Colton

COLTON -- A Colton man was accused of fleeing police twice on a motorcycle after law enforcement attempted to conduct a traffic stop, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies.

Timothy D. Coventry, 34, was charged with third-degree fleeing a motorcycle, reckless driving, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and several other traffic infractions stemming from an incident on SH 56 on Aug. 16, officers said.

Deputies attempted to stop Coventry after observing him driving at a high rate of speed in the Town of Potsdam, but did not pursue him due to safety concerns.

Coventry was located a short time later in Colton, but he again fled the traffic stop, officers said.

Deputies were able to identify Coventry as the driver during the second pursuit prior to ending the chase.

Officers located Coventry at his home on Sept. 21 and he was charged.

He is to answer the charges in court at a later date, deputies said.
