Robert L. Mayette, 75, Waddington

Funeral services for Robert L. Mayette, 75 of Waddington will be held on Friday, June 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Waddington. Friends and family may call on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Phillips Memorial Home in Waddington. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery in Waddington. Robert passed away on June 19, 2011 at Claxton-Hepburn Hospital.

He is survived by his daughters, Sherry and husband Danny Mayette-Etgen of Lakeland, FL, Julie Mayette of Ridgefield, CT, and Amy and husband David Mayette-Rivera of Waddington; grandchildren, Samuel, Janie, Olivia, Alexis, Riley, and Sydney; step grandchildren Ashlyn, and Chelsy; a brother, Douglas and wife Beverly Mayette of Wingdale; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Janet; a sister, Sheila in infancy; and a brother, Gene.

Robert was born on December 2, 1935 in Waddington the son of Robert L. and Elizabeth (Oshier) Mayette. He graduated from Waddington Schools in 1955. He entered the U.S. Army from 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1958. He married Janet Henderson on November 1, 1958 at the Methodist Church in Waddington. He retired from GM with 30 years employment as a painter.

Robert was a 30 year member of the Waddington Volunteer Fire Department, member of the Sons of Legion in Waddington and member of the UAW. Robert enjoyed playing golf with his grandson Sam, spending time with his grandchildren and his companion Betty Dawley, and he also enjoyed reading. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Waddington.
