Funeral services for James G. Stephenson, 83, of South Racquette Road, Massena, will be held on June 13, 2011, at the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena with John Kashorek, Minister of Church of Christ presiding. Friends and family may call on June 12, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home, 64 Andrews St. James passed away on June 7, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family.
He is survived by a son, Michael J. of Massena; a step daughter, Sheila Armstrong of GE; a close friend, Arlene V. Wood of Massena; three grandchildren, Crystal, Nathan, and Shane; five great grandchildren; and a sister, Pearl Delosh.
James was born on April 16, 1928 in Massena the son of Heman and May Stephenson. He married Frances Davis. She predeceased him on January 27, 1997. He proudly served his country in World War II in the U.S. Army. After being honorably discharged from the Army James started employment at Alcoa and retired in 1990 after 43 years as a crane operator.
He was a member of the 25 year Club at Alcoa, life member of AmVets Post #4. James was very active in the Boy Scouts, as a Scout Master. He enjoyed camping in his 5th wheel.
