St. Lawrence County legislators on Monday honored St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputy Gregory Anderson, State Troopers Robert Latimer and Alexander Williamson, firefighters James Hughes and Zac Cole along with EMS dispatchers Mackenzie Barse, Jarred Daily, Bradley Francis, Charles Lamica, Colin Myers and Dominick Sassone for their life saving efforts at fatal Pierrepont blaze in January. CANTON -- The combined efforts of two state troopers, two firefighters, a St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputy and several St. Lawrence County Emergency Services Dispatchers helped save the lives of six residents during a Pierrepont fire that killed two others.
On Monday St. Lawrence County legislators held a recognition ceremony at the opening of the full board meeting.
Then January fire claimed the lives of Ricky and Lena Gollinger, but the efforts of first responders allowed six others to escape from the burning home.
Two adults and four residents were aided in an escape without serious injuries.
St. Lawrence County Sheriff Brooks Bigwarfe offered praise for all involved including his own Deputy Gregory Anderson.
New York State Police Troopers Robert Latimer and Alexander Williamson were honored along with Pierrepont firefighters James Hughes and Zac Cole.
Emergency Services Director Matt Denner offered praise for his dispatchers who assisted as well. They included Mackenzie Barse, Jarred Daily, Bradley Francis, Charles Lamica, Colin Myers and Dominick Sassone.
Later in the meeting St. Lawrence County Legislator asked that the county order plaques for those who were honored so they would have something long-lasting to commemorate their efforts.
Legislators unanimously supported the idea.
