Harold Charles "Chuck" Baker, 69, formerly of Ogdensburg

Harold Charles "Chuck" Baker, 69, formerly of Ogdensburg, died Monday, May 9 (2011), at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center, in Harrison.

The son of Carl and Evelyn (Walton) Baker, Harold was born on May 14, 1941, in Ogdensburg. He proudly served his country and was a U.S. Army veteran, a natural salesman, and enjoyed golf, fishing, shooting and making people laugh.

Chuck taught his nephews to play golf and be brave; he was passionate about flying remote-controlled aircraft; and how that boy loved good seafood and a glass of good wine.

He married Carolyn Lair and they lived near Valley Springs. Chuck attended Olvey Bible Church and Rally Hill Community Church as long as his health permitted. He gave his life to Christ and enjoyed any Gaither music shows.

Chuck was preceded in death by his dad and mom, Ralph and Harriet Baker; his birth parents, Carl and Evelyn Baker; father-in-law, Bill Lair; sister-in-law, Fran Lair, and good friend, Tom Gilbert.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 34 years, Carolyn Lair Baker; sisters and brothers-in law, Mary Lee and Ron Spooner and Patti and Steve Best, all of Ogdensburg; mother-in-law, Mattie Mae Lair; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dwain and Megan Lair, all of Valley Springs.

Chuck is also survived by his cousins, Gary and Sue LaLonde, and Mickey Baker of Ogdensburg, Joe and Sandy DeFranco of Raymondville, Tom and Holly Baker of Rockford, Ill., and his special friend, Virgil Stonecipher, of Harrison. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces, Brandon and Suzy Lair, Shaynan Johnston, Jayme and Mark Murray, and Chris and Carrie Hunt.

Visitation were Wednesday evening from 5:30 - 7:30 at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Funeral services by Bro. Bob Brown & Bro. Robert Shaddox will be Thursday, May 12, at 2 p.m. at Olvey Bible Church, near Harrison, with military burial in Maplewood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jim Wendland, Glenn Smith, Doug Laughlin, Carl Shatwell, Gene Woodell, Craig Kite and Donnie Mattingly.

Honorary pallbearers were the Harrison Ukulele Band members.
