Gisela Gotsch, 87, Potsdam

Mrs. Gisela Gotsch, age 87, of Potsdam, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the Maplewood Campus in Canton, where she had been a patient since July 3, 2008. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam, with Msgr. Robert Aucoin and Msgr. John Murphy concelebrating. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Potsdam. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.

Gisela is survived by her sons, Otto (Teny) Czerepak of Potsdam, Carl Gotsch of Norwood and Alfred (Sue) Gotsch of South Colton; a daughter, Mary (Phil) Shatraw of Canton; sisters Eugenia Roliczek of Buffalo, and Stefanie Tischler of Potsdam; her grandchildren, Heidi Czerepak, William Gotsch, Noelle Dominy, Krystina Gotsch, Alex Gotsch, Erin Scoon and Mark Shatraw; and five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Peter Czerepak; her second husband, Anton Gotsch who passed away February 3, 2006; and a granddaughter, Katya Greer who passed February 22, 2009.

Gisela was born January 2, 1924 in Sadagura, Romania to the late Stefan and Maria Panczesun Hassler. She married Peter Czerepak on January 29, 1943. He was killed in WWII. She then married Anton “Tony” Gotsch on May 14, 1949. They moved to the United States on July 3, 1953.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, traditions, cooking and baking. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam.
