Harold G. “Hal” Bullock, 76, of Farmer Street, died April 19, 2011 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Born July 21, 1934 in the family home in Edwards, he was the son of the late Glenn Ira and Louise Estell (VanBuren) Bullock. He graduated Knox Memorial in 1952 and later from West Virginia Wesley University with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1958.
“Hal” was a veteran of the US Air Force serving from 1958-1962 and on September 4, 1965 he married Sue Catherine Rose at Gunnison Chapel on the campus of St. Lawrence University.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a chemist for Massena Memorial Hospital and Since 1980 he owned and operated the family dairy farm, the “GHAMES Farms” in Edwards.
Hal was a past member of the Canton Club Bowling Team for 30 plus years and he and his wife, Sue, were members of the Friday Nite Diner’s Club at the St. Lawrence Inn, Canton. He also enjoyed shuffleboard, hunting, farming, traveling and snowmobiling.
Surviving in addition to his wife Sue of Canton are his two sons, Glenn “Jeff” and wife Sheila of Russell and Harold “Joe” and fiancée Terri of Canton; four daughters, Penny LaClair of Laguna Niguel, CA, Amy Bortnick and husband Chip, Margaret “Meg” Aldous and husband Brad and Elizabeth “Beth” Larrabee and husband Rob all of Canton; sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild; six sisters and five brothers-in-law, Agnes and Harry Smithers, Leona and Paul Baker, Lois McAllester, Mary Jane and Earl Knight, Joyce and Bill Cooper and Anna and Dick McCormick; four brothers, James and Ruth , Clifford and Sally, Charles and Sue and Herb and Scottie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Drew; and a sister, Margaret.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Lawrence Funeral Home, Canton. Funeral will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Gunnison Chapel, St. Lawrence University with Chaplain Kathleen Buckley officiating. Burial will be in Brick Chapel Cemetery, Canton.
