Alcohol far worse than pot

The fact that alcohol is legal and marijuana is not is not based on any science whatsoever. Alcohol is the number one cause of birth defects and is the cause of FASD or fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, which can include facial deformities and neurological deficits that are untreatable. Just because booze is in the Bible and has more lobbyists and money backing it is a shame. Prohibition did not work and only served to grow organized crime. Likewise the laws against pot result in the same market distortions. Billions of dollars hemorrhage from the US economy because people buy pot and are willing to pay dealers for taking the risks associated with distributing the safer alternative to alcohol. A recent Scandinavian study put forth the idea that many billions in losses (from accidents, etc.) could be saved by legalizing marijuana and outlawing alcohol. Think of this: over 50% of emergency room admissions are alcohol related. And ER visits are not cheap.
