After storm tonight and tomorrow, snows taper off over weekend

Travel could be a little treacherous tonight as temperatures drop below freezing and predicted snowfall changes to freezing drizzle.

The National Weather Service says there is a 50 percent chance of precipitation in St. Lawrence County tonight, increasing as morning approaches.

Snow is the main weather feature for Friday, with possibly heavy snowfall anticipated. The high temperature will approach but not rise above freezing. North wind will blow as high as 15 to 20 mph as snow accumulates three to seven inches.

Friday night, temperatures will drop to the single digits and snowfall should taper off, predicts NWS. Moderate northwest winds might gather into gusts over 25 mph, causing wind chill values to drop as low as minus 9 degrees.

Saturday should start out mostly sunny with highs about 14. Clouds move in overnight with lows around 5 degrees and a 30 percent chance of snow.

The chance of snow stays at about 30 percent for Sunday morning, with daytime highs in the mid-20s. It will be cloudy through the night as temperatures drop to about 10 degrees.

On Monday, the Weather Service says, there is a chance of rain or snow with highs around 45.
