Ivan H. Kinney, 75, went to be with his Lord, Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at his home under the care of his loving family and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
Born July 17, 1935 in North Bangor, he was the son of Ivan and Esther Kelly Kinney. He graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1952. On June 9, 1956, at the Rossie Presbyterian Church, Ivan married Joan Youngs, his loving wife of 54 years.
The couple operated a dairy farm in North Gouverneur for over 50 years, and Ivan served as secretary and treasurer of the Marble City Milk Cooperative for several years.
Ivan was a member, trustee, and lay leader of the North Gouverneur United Methodist Church. More than anything, he was a beloved husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family, working the family farm until his retirement in 2001 and celebrating his love of the Lord.
Ivan is survived by his devoted wife Joan; two daughters, Debra (Jeff) Piro of Greenfield Center, and Darlene (Carl) Reynolds of North Gouverneur; a son, David (Ellen) Kinney of Chateaugay; six grandchildren, Lyndsay Johnson, Abigail and Lauren Piro, Nathan, Hannah, and Isaac Kinney; a great granddaughter, Natalie Piro; a sister, Irene Crawford of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Kenneth Kinney; a sister, Judy Tryon; and a grandson, Jonathan Piro.
The memorial service will be Monday, December 27th at 11:00 a.m. at the Gouverneur United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Wilfred Baez officiating. Calling hours are Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.
