County Arts Council offering classes for young people this month

POTSDAM – The St. Lawrence County Arts Council offers classes for ages 6-18 to explore the world of the arts.

All classes are held on the second floor of Downtown Snell Hall. Contact the SLC Arts Council to register and pre-pay for classes at 265-6860, www.slcartscouncil.org or by stopping by 51 Market St.

• Arts Around the World for Ages 6-12 with Kris Rozelle – Saturday, Dec. 11, 10-11:30 a.m. Learn about Art History and World Culture by working with a Colored Pencil Repousse technique on special metal sheets. $15, plus $5 materials fee.

• Comics Club! with Dave W. Ferry – Saturday, Dec. 18, noon-3 p.m. Ages 12-adult. This monthly class introduces youth and adults to the world of comic creation. Explore sketching and forming characters, perspective drawing, sequential storytelling, and most importantly—bringing ideas to life! Beginners welcome. $20.

• Magic Club for Ages 7-14 with Rich Tenace – Monday, Dec. 20, 4-5:30 p.m. This is a beginning magic class where youngsters will learn basic tricks with ropes, cards, coins, and sponge balls. $15 per class, $10 materials fee for the first class, and no materials fees for subsequent classes, students need to bring materials previously purchased.
