Funeral services for Orlean V. Laware, 91, of Apt 401 Parkview Rise, Ogdensburg will be held on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Fox and Murray Funeral Home with Lay Pastor Thomas Nichols officiating.
Burial will follow the service at the Pine Hill Cemetery, Eel Weir.
Calling hours will be held on Friday 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Laware died at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center on Wednesday Dec 1, 2010.
Surviving are two sons, William (Linda) Beckstead, Iroquois, Ont., Dale (Michelin) Beckstead, Metcalf, Ont.; seven daughters, Mrs. Roger (Shirley) Froats, Mrs. Wilfried (Sharon) Peters, both of Prescott, Ont., Mrs. Richard (Doris) Petell, Brushton, Mrs. Jack (Brenda) Dickson, Kanata, Ont., Mrs. George (Donna) Kennedy, Crystal Lake, Ont., Mrs. Dayton (Janice) Brillinger and Ms. Linda Featherstone, both of Ottawa, Ont.; one sister, Ella Kio, Ogdensburg; one brother, Eric Carr, Dayville, Conn.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Predeceasing her are a son, Dalton Lacomb, three sisters, Helen Harmon, Eva Sherman, Betty Couch and three brothers, Erwin Carr, Wayne Carr and Edwin Carr.
Mrs. Laware was born in Elma, Ontario, Canada on April 15, 1919, the daughter of Floyd and Myrtle Barkley Carr.
She attended Norfolk and Raymondville schools. Her first marriage to Mervin Lacomb ended in divorce.
She later married George Laware and the couple lived in Ogdensburg where they managed the St. Lawrence County S.P.C.A. for 20 years.
Mr. Laware died on April 9, 1996. She moved to Parkview Rise Apartments, Ogdensburg after her husband’s death.
She enjoyed playing bingo and card playing.
