Jackie Bintz and Ian Shantie

Former Raymondville resident Ian Murphy Shantie was wed to SUNY Potsdam graduate Jackie Bintz on May 22.

The two declared their vows in a small ceremony before a judge in a Washington State Court, not far from where Shantie is stationed. He is a U.S. Army medic.

Shantie is the son of Gene Earnie and Terry Lee Shantie of Raymondville.

The two have begun their new life together in Washington state, and Ian plans to pursue a career in the medical field following his term with the military.

Jackie is an educator who specializes in music, but is versed in many other subjects.

"With love, their families wish them joy  and success in this new adventure. Uva uvam vivendo varia fit," Ethan Shantie wrote.
