Joint services for Peter David Griffin, 58, of Massena and Peter Daniel Griffin 28 of Great Barrington, MA, will be held Monday, October 18, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church with Rev. Joel Grigg presiding. Interment for Peter David Griffin will be Calvary Cemetery, Massena.
Friends and family may call Sunday, October 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 pm at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.
Peter David Griffin died with his son from injuries sustained in a single car crash Tuesday afternoon, October 13, in Massena.
Surviving Peter David Griffin are his two daughters, Samantha L. of Massena and Sarah A. of Great Barrington, MA; three grandsons and a granddaughter, Tyler Valdez, David DuBray, Benjamin Griffin and MacKenzie Griffin; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Glory) Rufa of Massena; a brother, John P. Griffin of Gautier, MI; his loving companion, Sharri Miller of Ogdensburg; and aunts and uncles.
Peter was born in Massena August 13, 1952, the son of the late Floyd and Paula (Mathieu) Griffin. Following graduation from Massena Central High School 1970, Peter started employment at Alcoa. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army for four years. He then returned to Alcoa.
He married Diane Wilson in 1973. He married Evelyn Sherman at St John's Episcopal Church in 1982.
He attended Clarkson College and received his degree in accounting. Peter took an early retirement from Alcoa and was recently hired as an Assistant Habilitation Specialist at Cerebral Palsy Association of the North Country.
He very much enjoyed sports, was an avid New York Yankee fan. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren participating in sports.
