OGDENSBURG – Funeral services for Bernie A. Measheaw, 70, of Riverview Towers were held on Monday (Oct. 11, 2010) at 11 a.m. at the Fox and Murray Funeral Home. Entombment will follow the service at Foxwood Memorial Park.
Calling hours were held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Measheaw passed away on Thursday (Oct. 7, 2010) at his home surrounded by his family.
Surviving are his wife Linda; six sons, Bernie Measheaw Jr. and his wife Jeanne, Jefferey Measheaw, Jay Measheaw, Christopher Measheaw and his wife Amy, Adam Measheaw and his wife Nancy and Jenson Measheaw all of Ogdensburg; four daughters, Lynn Measheaw of Gouverneur, Helen Middlemiss and her husband Robert, Mary Belvins and her husband Dave, Terry-Lynn Hamilton and her husband Lucas all of Ogdensburg; 34 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A son Gary Measheaw; two brothers Edward and Clement Measheaw Jr. and a great grandson Landen Measheaw predeceased him.
Bernie was born on May 4, 1940 in the Town of Stockholm, a son of the late Clement and Doris (Selleck) Measheaw Sr. He attended Ogdensburg Free Academy for his education, and married Linda (Clark) on Aug. 24, 1960 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg.
He worked as a farmer for many years and then became employed at J.J. Doyle Lumber Yard until he became self employed.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and having coffee with his neighbors at the Towers.
