William Robert (Bob) Gollinger, age 80, of Pierrepont, passed away on February 15, 2011 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Bob was born on October 8, 1930 in Clare, he was the son of the late Ivan and Grace (Blackmer) Gollinger. He attended Knox Memorial School in Russell then served in the United States Army from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1953.
He married Lillian Porter on June 13, 1953. He owned and operated his family farm for many years. He also worked for the Town of Pierrepont as an equipment operator and then later foreman for 33 years. He liked to play cards, especially poker. He also enjoyed going out to eat and enjoyed hunting.
Bob is survived by his wife, Lillian; six sons and their wives, Gary and Shirley of Colton, Steve and Kim of Degrasse, Rick and Lena, Tom and Robin, Kevin and Tammy and Scott and Angela all of Pierrepont; four daughters and their husbands, Bonnie and Richard Ashley of Pierrepont, Cindy and Reggie Murdie of Canton, Janet and David Church of Russell and Jill and Rory Mouthorp of Canton; 34 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren; two brothers, Rex and Barb of Pierrepont and Richard of Pierrepont; and four sisters, Leona and Earl Laird of Auburn, Marion Porter of Gouverneur, Elaine and Ben Porter of Pierrepont and Linda and Henry Trimm of Edwards.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Donna; a son, Jeffrey; two brothers, Donald and Bruce; a sister, Betty Hoyt; a grandson, Eric Murdie; and a great grandson, Ryan Rivers.
Calling hours were on Thursday, February 17th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at French Funeral Home, Edwards. The funeral service was on Friday, February 18th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. William Hart officiating. Burial will be at Beech Plains Cemetery in the spring.
