Funeral services for 77 year old William R. Wagstaff Sr., 1749 Sober Street, Norfolk, will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with Rev. Jack Downs presiding. Burial will be held in Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk. There will be no public calling hours. Mr. Wagstaff passed away late Monday evening, Sept. 20 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
William is survived by his wife, Rose, Norfolk; his three sons, William Jr., Norfolk, Charles H. and Ronda Wagstaff, Norfolk, and Randy and Christina Wagstaff, Norfolk; his two daughters, Thelma and Randy Wolstenholm, Norfolk and Mary and Mike Jay, Norwood; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Harold and Marjorie Wagstaff, Norfolk, Glenn and Debbie Wagstaff, Massena and Henry II and Betty Wagstaff, Jackson, PA.
Born in Louisville on September 11, 1933 he was the son of the late Henry C. and Mable White Wagstaff. He married Rose Wolfe on July 17, 1954. He worked in the Lost Foam Department for General Motors in Massena, retiring in 1995 after 27 years.
He was a member of the Church of the Visitation and enjoyed country music, having two bands that he started, the Sober Street Band and the Country Connection.
