Mr. William “Mike” Brannen, Sr., age 68, of 13824 State Route 37, passed away early Thursday morning, September 2, 2010, at Massena Memorial Hospital, where had been a patient since August 22nd. He had recently been in failing health.
Mike was born March 3, 1942 in Louisville, the son of Walter L. Sr. and Bernice Vice Brannen. He attended schools in Massena. On January 20, 1962, he married Sheila Ann Fyckes at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Rev. Bernard Kellogg, officiating.
Mike had a great passion for his farm of which he operated for many years. He also worked as a crane operator at Alcoa for a short time. He was a former member of the National Farmers Organization and a communicant of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Louisville. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila; four children, William “Mike” Jr. and his wife, Kim of Massena, Pat of Louisville, Kelly Page and her husband, Elwin of Massena, Craig and his companion, Tracy Huddleston of Massena; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Walter “Wally” Brannen; and two sisters, Marjorie Zappia and Norma Deshaies.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena.
