William J. Walton Jr., 72, died at home with family, friends, and his beloved Jake, under the care of Hospice, January 11, 2012. Allen-Denesha Funeral Home, DeKalb Junction, entrusted with arrangements. Burial will be in the spring at the convenience of the family in Spragueville Cemetery.
William is survived by, his wife of 28 years, Bonnie; sons Russ (Kathy) Walton, Penneville, and Timothy (Joni) Walton, Syracuse; daughter Marcy Mareno and husband, Syracuse; stepdaughters Wanda (Marvin) Garvey, DeKalb Junction, Kim (Scott) Walton, Canton, and Laurie Walton, Utica; a brother, Garry (Sherrill) Walton, Gouverneur; a sister, Kay (Bill) Walton, Canton; four grandchildren and a great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, William J. Walton III; and brothers Richard, Wallace and Wayne Walton.
William was born March 18, 1939 in Richville, the son of William and Velma Phillips Walton Sr. William graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1958. He was the first Electrical Apprentice in New York State. He worked at St. Joe for 20 years, then he drove tractor trailer for local companies. He was an independent driver until his retirement in the early 90’s. He enjoyed driving, hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards, party poker and was a skilled marksman.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, and Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
