Wayne H. Hunter of Waddington passed away Tuesday (December 20, 2011) at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Leila; his four daughters, Carolyn Dunbar of Decatur TX, Linda and David Thorbahn of Waddington, Alice and Stephen Reed of Potsdam, and Susan and Les Haas of Waddington; a son, Michael Hunter of Waddington; and 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Wayne was predeceased by three sisters.

Wayne was married to Leila Moulton by Rev. Heatherington in the Madrid Methodist Church on April 16, 1942. Wayne helped farm for others until 1948 when he and Leila purchased a dairy farm on Wayne Hunter Road, Waddington. He was employed at the Waddington Milk Factory and the Heuvelton Cheese Factory, later while still farming. Wayne retired from farming in 1970.

He then went on to become a sales representative for Amway, Blair products, and SWEPCO. He also at one time sold ads for the Pennysaver. Wayne also belonged to the Future Farmers of America and the Farm Bureau. Wayne, along with his wife Leila was a 70 year member of the Madrid Grange # 962 and a National Grange Member.

Friends and family are welcome to call at the Phillips Memorial Home in Madrid, Monday (December 26, 2011) from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the United Church of Madrid Tuesday (December 27, 2011) at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow in Madrid Cemetery. At the family's request memorial contributions may be made to the United Church of Madrid Memorial Fund.
