Vivian Akins, 89, formerly of Lisbon

Vivian Akins, 89, of St. Cloud, Florida and formerly of Lisbon, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2011. She was born in Canton, and moved to St. Cloud, Florida, as a snowbird in 1999. She most recently resided at Plantation Bay Nursing Home, St. Cloud, FL.

For several years, Vivian worked as a NY State mental health family care provider, a licensed beautician and moving from down state NY following her husband's death, operated a 100 acre dairy farm in Lisbon, worked as a nurse's aide at Cedar's nursing home and United Helpers nursing Home.

Following retirement from the nursing home, she moved to Florida with her son and his wife. She was a wonderful homemaker and could always make something from nothing.

She is survived by her loving family, sons, Daniel j. Akins (Peggy), St. Cloud, FL, and William C. Akins (Gloria), Ogdensburg; daughters Kathleen F. Gilbert (Peter), Ogdensburg, and Linda M. Tracy, Norfolk; daughter in law Christie Akins, Roanoke, VA; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; two brothers, two sisters, and one granddaughter; and a son, Roy M. Akins.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the St. Cloud Church of the Nazarene, St. Cloud, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to the Lisbon Wesleyan Church, Lisbon, New York or the St. cloud Church of the Nazarene, St. Cloud, FL.
