Committal services for Violet H. Vari Gabri, 79, of Hatfield St. Massena, will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, Massena. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Violet passed away on September 14, 2010 at St. Regis Nursing Home.
Violet is survived by a son, Joseph Jr. of Massena; a sister, Mrs. Harold (Frances) Mousseau of Massena; a sister in-law, Margaret Lehnert of Berea, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Michael Vari.
Born on September 21, 1930 in Massena she was the daughter of Mike and Hazel (Veng) Vari. She married Joseph A. Gabri on July 1, 1950 at St. Mary's Church in Massena. Mr. Gabri predeceased her on April 3, 2008.
She was employed as head cook for over 30 years in the cafeteria at Alcoa. Violet was a member of the Massena Senior Citizens, Akwesasne Senior Citizens, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She was a communicant of Church of the Sacred Heart. She was also a long time volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She enjoyed gardening and socializing with her family and friends.
