Mrs. Viola F. Weaver, 85, of Potsdam, passed away on Friday, April 27, at the Highland Nursing Home in Massena, where she had been a patient since October 2, 2009. Funeral Services will be held for Viola on Monday, April 30, at 10 a.m. at the Garner Funeral Service with Msgr. Robert Aucoin celebrant. Burial will follow the service at the Calvary Cemetery in Norwood. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Contributions in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Mrs. Weaver is survived by a son Alfred (Sharon) Weaver Jr. of Fort Jackson; daughters Diane (Thomas) O’Neil and Linda (Larry) Fountaine of Massena; 10 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Alfred Weaver Sr.; her son Richard Hosmer; a sister Dorothy Murray and a brother Leon Caskenette.
Mrs. Viola F. Weaver was born on October 23, 1926 in Potsdam, to the late George and Jennie Greenwood Caskenette. She attended Potsdam Schools. On April 16, 1949 in the Rectory at St. Mary’s, she was married to Mr. Alfred Weaver.
Viola worked at Craft Foods, St. Lawrence University and at Potsdam State Teacher’s College. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam and was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign War in Potsdam. Online condolence can be sent at www.garnerfh.com.
