A Mass of Christian Burial for Verna K. Clement, 84 of Haines City, Fl and formerly of Belmont St., Massena, will be Monday, July 25, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church with Rev. J. Michael Gaffney presiding. Friends and family may call prior to services at the Phillips Memorial Home starting at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the family plot, Calvary Cemetery, Massena.
Verna died Tuesday afternoon, July 19, 2011 in Winter Haven Hospital, Winter Haven, Fl.
Surviving Verna K. Clement is her beloved sister, Shirley Clement with whom she resided; a sister, Irene Tichenor of Owensboro, KY; a sister- in- law, Elaine Clement of Massena and five nephews. Verna was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Howard and Charles.
Verna was born February 1, 1927 the daughter of Charles W. and Aurora (Hemond) Clement,Sr.. She attended Massena local schools.
Verna was employed for over 30 years at the Massena Observer Newspaper office where she performed many tasks regarding the publishing of the Massena paper.
Both Verna and her sister moved to Haines City, Florida 17 years ago. Verna enjoyed traveling and had taken many trips with her sister Shirley.
Verna was a member of the Sacred Heart League, L.C.B.A, a communicant of St. Mary's Church, a long time member of the Women of the Moose and the Women’s Bowling League in Massena. While residing in Florida Verna enjoyed playing sports in their Plantation Landing Park.
