WADDINGTON -- Vada Dunn Mott Dunham, age 96 of Waddington, NY passed away Friday, February 8, 2019 at home surrounded by family. Friends and family may call previous to the Memorial Service on Sunday, February 10, 2019 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Waddington. The Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm at the Church.
Surviving Vada are her children, Barbara (Gener) Barkley, Waddington; Phyllis Mott, Norwood; David Mott, Forest Dale, VT; Joyce (Mark) Mertz, Waddington; Bryan Mott, Waddington; and Janet (Dale) Wall, Canajoharie, NY. Vada had 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Marjorie Fisher, Chipman, NY; and a brother, Charles Keith Dunn, Leo, IN, and many nieces and nephews.
Vada was predeceased by her first husband Harold Mott and her second husband John (Jack) Dunham, a son Darrell Mott of Kingman, AZ, a brother Fred Dunn, and sisters Jean Cotey and Helen Cressey.
Vada was born May 29, 1922 to Charles and Essie Dunn in Canton, NY. She graduated from Canton High School in 1940 and attended Empire Beauty Academy in Syracuse, NY. Vada worked as a hairdresser. She and her husband Jack owned and operated a True Value Hardware store in Fort Plain, NY for a number of years before moving to Waddington in 2005.
Vada loved her family, entertaining, playing cards, church activities, and an active social life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Waddington Rescue Squad or Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
