Funeral Services for Thomas M. Jeanette, 64, of County Route 17, will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at 6:15 p.m. at the Lawrence Funeral Home, Canton with Rev. Donna Doig officiating. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 - 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Jeanette died Friday, May 13 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital after being stricken at his home earlier in the day.
Born July 3, 1946 in Kalamazoo, MI son of Thomas W. Jeanette and Thelma Fifield Ordway, he graduated Knox Memorial School and later earned a degree in business accounting from Roethel’s Business School in Ogdensburg.
On October 21, 1966 he married Eleanor “Ellie” Baxter at the Russell U.M. Church with Rev. Houghton as celebrant. Ellie predeceased him on October 20, 2010.
Tom was at one time in charge of maintenance at Whippoorwill Restaurant in Russell.
He was a member of the Emerald City Marine Corp. League, a volunteer for the Toys for Tots Program for many years and was a huge supporter of D.C.S.R. Volunteer Fire Dept.
Tom was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed casino gambling, tinkering in his garage and hanging out with “the gang” at the diner.
He will be remembered by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy O. and Kimberly Jeanette and Barry G. and Courtney Jeanette both of South Russell; five grandchildren, Richard, Brandi, Dylon, Jordan and Kyanne; one sister, Yvonne Simmons of Fowler and a number of step and half brothers and sisters.
