Mr. Thomas F. Jock, Sr., 71, of 1634 River Road, passed away on Monday morning, October 18, 2010, after a lengthy illness at Cornwall Community Hospital, where he had been a patient since Tuesday.
Thomas was born September 29, 1939 in Akwesasne the son of the late Francis and Elizabeth Square Jock. He attended schools in Bombay. On September 29, 1962, he married Esther M. Mitchell at St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Francis Arsenault, officiating.
He first worked at the Seaway, before going to work iron with Local #711 in Montreal. He continued working there until he was injured in 1988 and became disabled. He also worked as a police officer with the St. Regis Police and was a security guard at the Canadian Customs Building for nearly 12 years. He was an avid race fan, having raced Car #31. He enjoyed going to the casino and the bingo palace. He enjoyed listening to country music, playing cards, telling old stories, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Esther; five children, Dawn Mitchell and her husband, Pete of Akwesasne, Quebec, Delores Jock of Akwesasne, Quebec, Marietta Jock of Akwesasne, Quebec, Thomas F. Jock, Jr. and his wife, Kim of Akwesasne, and Justin Jock of Akwesasne, Quebec; 15 grandchildren, Andrew, Shane, Ashley, Tanner, Taylor, Tristyn, Tritan, Trinity, Chad, Corby, Louie, Brittany, Thomas III, Marrietta and Morgan; three great grandchildren, Travalla, Trayven, and Daellen; a brother, Harold Wilbert Edwards of Akwesasne, Ontario; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Delores A. Herne on August 10, 2009.
Friends may call at his home, 1634 River Road, Akwesasne, Quebec, beginning Tuesday 6:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 3:00 p.m. at St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. George H. Belgarde, SJ, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hogansburg. Arrangements are with the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena.
