POTSDAM --Terron Evans, Jr., 26, died unexpectedly on Friday morning, January 8, 2021. Terron is the eldest son of local BLM leader, Jennifer Baxtron.
Terron was born on February 24, 1994, in Syracuse, New York, a son to Jen ThomasBidwell (Jennifer Baxtron) and Terron Evans, Sr. He attended Syracuse City Schools in Syracuse, NY and obtained his GED at Thomas Nelson Community College in Newport News, VA.
To know Terron is to love him. His wisdom was that of someone twice his age. His kindness for all people was evident in everything he did, wherever he went. Terron always had a huge smile on his face, and that smile of his was so infectious. Terron made mistakes in life for which he paid dearly, and his mental health and addiction struggles were known by many in his family and throughout the community.
Terron is survived by his mother (Jen) of Potsdam, NY; father (Terron, Sr.) of Syracuse, NY; one sister, Tiarra Evans of Syracuse, NY; one brother, (Isaiah Bidwell) of Potsdam, NY; two nieces (Sarah Evans) of Potsdam, NY, (A’milianah Evans) of Syracuse, NY; two nephews (Tre’saiah and Noah Evans) of Potsdam, NY; aunts (Yvonne Griffin, Misty Thomas, Tesha Shuler, Shalee Barner, and Tonette Felder); uncle (Michael Bidwell); paternal grandmother (Renee Evans); and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
Terron was predeceased by his uncle Terrel Barner; biological maternal grandmother Roselyn Camidge; maternal grandfather (LeRoy Thomas); paternal grandparents Leb and Eloise Evans; and adopted maternal grandparents Eddie and Ellen Planty.
Terron’s mother, Jen, founder and leader of BLM Potsdam, always feared vocally and publicly as well as privately that her struggling son would slip through the systems that should be available to help him and that this day would come. That fear and love for her son, along with that same fear and love for all of her children and grandchildren, are the known impetus for her activist work. The death of Terron has devastated his family and close friends. Terron was so loved and will be painfully missed. Terron’s life mattered. Terron’s life will always matter.
