Teresa M. Schlachter of Ballston Spa, and formerly Morristown, died on April 22, 2014. She was born on October 25, 1923 in Ogdensburg. She was the daughter of Edna M. and Leo T. McKenty.

Terry grew up in Syracuse where she met her husband, Francis C. Schlachter. Retiring after a dedicated career as a teacher, homemaker, community volunteer, and literacy advocate, she and Fran moved to her family home in the Thousand Islands on the St. Lawrence River. Later, she moved to the Saratoga Springs area to be closer to her son and family.

Terry was predeceased by her husband and daughter Suzanne.

She is survived by her son, Tim and his wife Kate of Greenfield Center; and granddaughters Margaret (Salt Lake City, Utah), Kristine (New York City), and Erica (Whitefish, Montana).

She was a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church, Clifton Park, where a memorial service will held on a date to be determined.

Arrangements are entrusted with Frary Funeral Home in Ogdensburg.

Burial will take place at Notre Dame Cemetery, Ogdensburg, at the convenience of the family.
