Graveside services for Stephen L. Belgard, age 61, of Elizabeth Street in Ogdensburg, will be held on Friday (July 15, 2011) at 3:00 p.m. at Ogdensburg Cemetery with Rev. Thomas Nichols officiating.
Stephen died Thursday (July 7, 2011) at his home. Arrangements are with the Fox & Murray Funeral Home.
Surviving is his companion, Beverly Schofell of Ogdensburg; and cousins Peter Putman and his companion Pamela Schofell of Ogdensburg, Thomas Belgard of San Diego, Kay Finney of Ohio, Anne Frick of Morristown and Michael Belgard of Buffalo.
Stephen was born on October 2, 1949 a son of the late Morgan and Janet (Putman) Belgard. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and Jefferson Community College. He was employed at the Ogdensburg Police Department as a dispatcher for a period, and then began his longtime employment with the Ogdensburg International Airport as their Fixed Base Operator. He retired from the Airport on December 31, 2010 after 30+ years of dedicated employment.
His passion for flying began at age 15 when he obtained his aviation license. In 1975 he began the construction of his own plane, and was the current owner of a red & white Cessna single engine. He enjoyed photography, flying and building model airplanes.
