Shirley M. Lehigh, age 74, of Indian Head Trail, Gouverneur, passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 after a long illness.
Mrs. Lehigh was born to Walter and Blanche (Cullen) McEwing on July 30, 1935 in Lansdowne, PA. She graduated from Dean High School in Gouverneur in 1953 and from Central City Business Institute in 1954. Shirley married Alan C. Lehigh on October 12, 1956 at the Gouverneur Presbyterian Church. Until the past five years, the Lehighs resided in Wappingers Falls, NY.
Mrs. Lehigh was employed by Century 21 as a Licensed Real Estate sales woman where she was honored several times for her outstanding sales performance in Dutchess County.
Shirley was a member of the Fowler Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Alan of Gouverneur; a sister, Patricia W. Gonzalez of Baldwinsville; a son and his wife, Alan Glenn and Peggy Lehigh of Wappingers Falls; four daughters and their husbands, Blen and Stephen Darrah of Walkill, April and Robert Weiss of Hopewell Jct., Chanda and John Palcher of Saugerties, and Kendra and Kelly Close of Hyde Park; and 14 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a brother, Michael W. McEwing, of Albany; as well as her parents.
Calling hours will be on Friday, July 16th from 6 until 8 p.m. at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur. Her funeral service will be on Saturday, July 17th at 10:00 a.m. at French Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Smith of the Fowler Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Gouverneur.
