OGDENSBURG – Funeral services for Shirley A. Horton, 60, of the Bromaghin Road will be held on Wednesday (Aug 11, 2010) at 4 p.m. at Notre Dame Church with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating.
Her place of rest will be at Foxwood Memorial Park, Ogdensburg.
Calling hours will also be held on Wednesday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home.
Ms. Horton passed away at her home on Saturday evening surrounded by her loving family.
Surviving are her daughter Tammy Horton and her companion Scott Regan of Ogdensburg, her son Mark Horton and his companion Chris Claxton of Ogdensburg; a daughter-in-law Angela (Horton) Weston of Ogdensburg; grandchildren Haley and Hayden Regan, Payton and Logan Horton, Paige and Trent Horton and Ashley Weston; her ex-husband James Horton; her biological mother Mary “Alice” Nicholas along with her loving extended family of several half-brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Two sons William & James Horton Jr., and her father William Gagnon predeceased her.
Shirley was born on March 24, 1950 in Ogdensburg, a daughter of William and Mary "Alice” (LaMay) Gagnon.
She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1969.
Shortly after graduation, she began her 30-plus year career at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center where she worked in the housekeeping department and as a switch board operator until July 1, 2010 when she began to fail in health.
She was a parishioner of Notre Dame Church and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, family cookouts and decorating for the holidays.
