Sean Samolis, 19, formerly of Potsdam

Sean M. Samolis, 19, passed away suddenly on Thursday. He was born in Potsdam, but lived in the Syracuse area since age 5. He was a 2010 graduate of Jamesville-DeWitt High School and received the Auto Collision Certification from BOCES.

Sean was a founding team member of the Syracuse Silverbacks Youth Rugby team, an avid snowboarder, and enjoyed dog sled racing, a hobby he shared with his grandfather. Sean was most recently employed by The Events Company as a Production Assistant.

Sean is survived by his parents, Kevin and Nicole Samolis of DeWitt; a brother, Matthew, a graduate student at Syracuse University; maternal grandparents, Gail Thew of Waddington and Spencer Thew of South Colton; paternal grandparents Victor and Clare (deceased) Samolis of Warwick, RI and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and neighbors who loved him dearly and will miss him terribly.

Services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 9 at Holy Cross Church, 4112 East Genesee Street, DeWitt. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, February 8 from 4 - 7 p.m. at Eaton-Tubbs-Schepp Funeral Home, 7191 East Genesee Street, Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Sean M. Samolis Memorial Fund, 124 Orvilton Drive, DeWitt, NY 13214.
