Early afternoon on the 13th of November 2023 Scot Alan Fraser, 74, passed away at Lee Memorial Hospital Fort Meyers, Florida. He was born to the late Rod and Lil (Hewitt)Fraser on July 22nd, 1949, in Gouverneur NY.
Scot grew up in Wanakena, NY and graduated from Clifton Fine Central School in 1967. He went on to graduate from SUNY Plattsburgh receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Biology.
Scot was an accomplished teacher at Morristown Central School teaching Chemistry, Biology, and Earth Science. After retirement in 2002 Scot mastered wood carving and carpentry. Every summer, he looked forward to traveling to Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada where he had many friends and family members. Some of his happiest days were spent in the backyard with family friends, and most especially his grandchildren. He loved being Poppy.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Victoria Simmons.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Sullivan) Fraser; a son, Colin Fraser (Jessica); three daughters: Jamie Fraser, Patricia (Nicholas) Shank and Shannon (Craig) LaTray; 11 grandchildren, Nicholas (Sabrina), Kaeliann, and William Fraser; Maegan, Patrick, and Abigail Simons; Mackenzie, Nicholas, and Fraser Shank; Preston and Madison Latray and two great-grandchildren, Rowen and Priscilla Fraser. In addition, he is survived by two brothers, Roger (Margaret) Fraser and John (Cheryl) Fraser; and one sister, Jeanne (Robert) Reines. And several nieces and nephews.
As per Scot’s wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Instead, there will be a celebration of life on July 22nd, 2024, on his 75th birthday, in the back yard at his home in Star Lake.
