Ruth A. Robar, age 70, of Racquette Road Potsdam, died at her residence December 10, 2010, under the care of her loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 15 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Potsdam with the Reverend Garry Giroux celebrant.. Burial will be held in the spring at St. Mary's Cemetery, Canton.

Mrs. Robar was born August 14, 1940 in Canton to Charles and Katheryn Burke Ames. She attended Canton Central School and married Frederick D. Robar (Hank) at St. Mary's Church Canton, August 11, 1962. The marriage ended in a divorce.
Mrs.Robar is survived by a son Frederick D. Robar Jr.(Rick) of Potsdam; two daughters, Christina M.Thomas and Amy Jones both of Norfolk and a daughter, Melissa A. Robar of Clay.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Brittany L. Thomas, Poughkeepsie, Barrett C. Thomas of Norfolk, Chelsea M. Robar of Cicero, Joshua K. Robar, Austin E. Robar and Emily E. Robar of Potsdam and John E. Jones III of Norfolk.
She is also survived by two brothers, Leo and Cheryl Ames of Potsdam and Donald and Dorothy Ames of Pierrepont; five sisters Katherine Fountain, Pyrites, Karel and Michael Mace of Canton, Janet and Everett Aldous of Pierrepont, Eleanor and James Cassoni of Carthage, Sharon Simmons of Ancram. She was predeceased by an infant son; two sisters, Elizabeth Acra and Baby Margaret Ann.
She was also predeceased by four brothers, Charles, Joseph, Arthur and Clarence Ames.
She was an active participant of two local coffee clubs, Foxy Roxies and McDonalds. She enjoyed horseshoes, shuffle board, bird watching and was active at St. Mary's Church, was a Hospice volunteer and loved organizing bus trips.
Ruth was a member of the Potsdam American Legion and VFW Auxilliaries and Debra Drive senior Citizens, St. Lawrence County Council, Moose Lodge and a volunteer driver for the St. Lawrence County Social Services.
