Funeral Services for Ruth Hunter, age 74, of 706 Renseallar Ave. Ogdensburg will be held Wednesday, August 25th at 10 a.m. with the Reverend F. James Shurtleff officiating at Notre Dame Church. Entombment will be at Foxwood Mausoleum following mass. Ms. Hunter passed away peacefully at her home Sunday morning. Calling Hours will be 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2010 at Frary Funeral Home.
She is survived by Her mother,Florence Weiler of Ogdensburg; two sons, Wallace Hunter Jr., Ogdensburg and Thomas Hunter, Lisbon; one daughter, Charlene Dawley and her husband Michael; two step-daughters, Gretchen Ashley and her husband William and GailHunter and her husband Frank Grover of Woolrich, Maine; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great step-grandchildren and a brother James and his wife Sandy Weiler, Ogdensburg. She was predeceased by one brother, Joseph Weiler and a sister, Elizabeth Hellett.
Mrs. Hunter was born February 5th, 1936, New York City, daughter of John and Florence Phillips Weiler. She graduated from Lyme High School in 1954. She married Wallace Hunter on March 25th 1960 in Massena. She first went to work for Western Union where she met her husband who predeceased her in 2006. She then went to work for Frederick Remington Art Museum from 1972-1998.
She and her husband traveled extensively and were members of Notre Dame Church.
