Rose M. Brown, 90, of Highland Nursing Home and formerly on East Hatfield St. Massena, passed away on March 7, 2012 at the Highland Nursing Home. Rose was born on September 29, 1921 in Ogdensburg the daughter of Henry and Verneda (Noce) Fiacco.
She was employed at Grandy Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide. She married Ernie Mattice, the marriage ended in divorce, she later married Lloyd Kirkey, and he passed away on October 30, 1973. She married Edward Brown who predeceased her on 1988.
Rose is survived by a daughter, Nancy Murray; a daughter-in-law, Mary Mattice of Massena; nine grandchildren, Kevin Richards, Sherri Blair, Michael Richards, Kelly Derouchie-Gravlin, Luanne Johnson, Tracey Sunday, Wendy Sunday, Tom Mattice Jr. and Toni Oakes; 31 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; and a brother and two sisters, Stanley and June Fiacco of Massena, Noreen Ashley of Massena and Anna Murray of Auburn.
She was predeceased by a son, Thomas M. Mattice in Jan. 2005; a daughter, Janet Olvera in Dec. 2011; two grandson, Craig Richards and Mark Derouchie; and two brothers, Franklin and Carl Fiacco.
Rose was communicant of St. Joseph's Church, and a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed mall walking, traveling, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
Friends are welcome to call on Friday from 12 noon - 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Memorial Home with Rev. Joe Elliott presiding. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
