Rose A. Brown, 80, Bombay

Rose A. Brown, age 80, of 1684 St. Rt. 95 Bombay, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at the Massena Memorial Hospital. Rose was born in Potsdam, on September 6, 1931 the daughter of the late Edward and Irene (Laiton) Burkum. She graduated from Potsdam High School in 1949. After School, Rose worked for the Carthage Paper Mill, Warner Bros in Massena, and retired from Tru-Stitch Slipper Factory with 20 years of dedicated services.

She was united in marriage to Edward H. Brown on October 15, 1949 in St. Mary’s Church, Potsdam, NY. In her free time, Mrs. Brown enjoyed cooking, Needlework, and writing Poems, but she cherished the time she spent with her family and grandchildren. Rose was a Founding member of the Bombay Women’s Auxillary at the Bombay Fire Dept.

She is survived by her loving sons and daughters-in-law, Edward L. (Toby) and Eunice Brown of Bombay and Ronnie and Phyllis Brown of Massena; grandchildren Lori and Toby Gamanche, Nichelle and Matt LaFlesh, Jennifer and Gerald Lauzon and Cheri Langdon and Ed Brown; great-grandchildren Brian Stoddard, Caitlin Clark, Shelby Brown, Jude Lauzon, Sophie Lauzon, Dylan Lauzon, Gage LaFlesh, Timothy Langdon, Aidan Langdon, Sarah Langdon, Eddie Brown and Mateo Brown; great-great granddaughter Alainah Rose Clark; and brothers and sisters, George Burkum, Shirley (William) Irwin, Bernice (Francis) Wolfe, Doris (Carl) Thompson, Jean (George) Thompson, Joan (Stanley) Jock, Ellen (Donald) Russell.

Besides her parents, Rose was predeceased by her husband, Edward H. Brown on September 29, 1973; a brother, Francis Burkum; and a sister, Mae Reynolds.

Friends are invited to call at the Flint Funeral Home, Moira on Sunday, February 19, 2012 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 20, 2012 at 11:00 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Bombay, with Rev. Martin Cline officiating.

Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Bombay Fire Dept. in Mrs. Brown’s memory.
