Mrs. Rosalyn L. Maxwell, age 78, formerly of Oswegatchie, passed away on December 23, 2011 at the Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast, Maine.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Oswegatchie Baptist Church followed by her funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at the Oswegatchie Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by French Family Funeral Home, Star Lake.
Rosalyn was born on March 18, 1933 in Oswegatchie to the late Ivan and Hazel (Buell) Scott. She graduated from Oswegatchie High School and then went on to graduate from Watertown Business School. She married Frederick James Maxwell on March 29, 1952.
She worked as the town clerk for the town of Fine for over 30 years. She lived in Oswegatchie, NY for 57 years moving to Mt. Holly Spring, PA where they lived for 11 years. Then they moved to Martha’s Vineyard for 2 years until moving to Maine in 2004. Rosalyn was a member of the Oswegatchie Baptist Church Ladies Missionary Society. She played the piano and organ for the church and also taught Sunday School. She enjoyed crocheting and doing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her husband, Frederick of Brooks, ME; a son, Philip J. Maxwell of Sorrento, FL; a daughter, Susan L. Maxwell of Brooks, ME and two grandchildren, John Philip of Boston, MA and Heather M. Hickey-Priebe of Salt Lake City, UT.
Rosalyn is predeceased by a brother, Ivan Scott Jr.
