A Mass of Resurrection for Ronald " Ronnie" J. Cole, 72 of Erwin Ave., Massena will be held Friday (November 4, 2011) 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church with Rev J. Michael Gaffney presiding. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena. Ronnie died early Tuesday morning (November 1, 2011) at Fletcher Allen Health Center, Burlington VT where he had been taken Sunday from the Massena Memorial Hospital.
Surviving Ronnie is his beloved wife, Margaret; two sons, Jason and Kristie of Louisville and Jeffrey and Tamara of Fredericksburg, VA; three grandchildren, Jesselee, Jace and Ethan; sisters Ruth Spoor of Ellenburg, Shirley and husband Theron LaRue of Norwood, Audi and husband Frank Toth of Winthrop, and Dayna Cole of Norwood; a brother, Herman and wife Zelma of Mitchell, IN; and many nieces and nephews.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Arthur Jr.
Ronnie was born August 25, 1939 in Ellenburg, the son of Arthur and Krystal (Ash) Cole. Following his graduation from high school he entered the US Army Reserves for six years. He married Margaret Palmer June 7,1962 by Rev. Msgr. Arthur M. Leary. He was employed at Reynolds Metals as a cast house worker for 38 years retiring in 1998.
Ronnie was an avid hunter belonging to Wetlands Clinton County Hunting Club and was a car buff having proudly restored 1940 Ford pickup that was incorporated into his son's wedding.
