Funeral services for Roger A. Craig, 85, will be celebrated at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Frary Funeral Home. Mr. Craig passed away Saturday morning, December 31, 2011 at Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington VT, surrounded by his loving family.
Roger is survived by his wife, Elaine of Ogdensburg; sons, Douglas (Ogdensburg), Duane (Cheryl) of Blanket Texas, David (Angie) of Rensselaer Falls and Gregory (Kim) of Honeoye Falls; and daughters, Louise (Bud) Davis of Okeechobee Florida, Marcia (Bryan) Statt of Marion, and Dawn (Tim) Adams of Ogdensburg. Also surviving are grandchildren Allison Opicka, Andrea Craig, Joshua and Michael Davis, Christina Davis Moats, Morgan and Nathan Statt, Jennifer and Abigail Adams, Gabriel, Olivia and Claire Craig, Ashley and Jimmy Scott and Conner Craig; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob and Emmy Moats and Isa Bella Davis and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by in-laws Allen (Jane )Rishe, Marie Craven, and Kenny(Angie) Rishe.
Roger was born to Alva and Rebecca Thompson Craig on June 24, 1926, in Binghamton. He received his early education at Lisbon schools, graduated from OFA.
He worked at the NYS Psychiatric Center, retiring after 33 years of service. In the heyday of stock car racing in St. Lawrence Co, he was an avid driver, winner of a number of trophies.After his retirement, he worked part-time for Mort Backus and Sons.
He married Elaine Rishe on Oct. 22, 1949. He was a communicant of SS Philip and James Church, Lisbon and St. Raphael's, Heuvelton.
