Funeral services for Robert T. McAllister, 85, of Lincoln Ave. Waddington will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home, Waddington with Russell Strait, Lay Speaker officiating. Interment will be in Campbell Cemetery, Lisbon. Friends and family may be received from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the Phillips Memorial Home, Waddington. Robert died Wednesday (April 20, 2011) afternoon at the Claxton-Hepburn Hospital emergency room after being stricken at home.
Surviving Robert T. McAllister are his three sons, Robert (Bob) and Marlena of New Rochelle, Harold and Karen of Tampa, FL. and Jack G. and Sherry Tynan of Waddington; and two granddaughters and a grandson.
Robert was born April 30, 1925 in Rensselaer Falls, the son of Fulton and Anna (LaFlair) McAllister. He attended Rensselaer Falls schools and was a graduate of St. Lawrence University. Robert married Eleanor Barkley in 1945 in Heuvelton. After nearly 55 years of marriage Eleanor passed away in December 28, 2000. Robert was the Superintendent at SUNY at Fort Schuyler Maritime College in Bronx. Robert and his late wife Eleanor returned to the North Country, having resided in Waddington the past 25 years.
Robert loved working on mechanical things helping his neighbors and friends. For many years Robert traveled in his little camper. He enjoyed hunting, flying model airplanes and was a licensed airplane pilot.
